As a group of entrepreneurs, we know how hard it is to get a company off of the ground. We've been in your shoes — going to class, eating ramen noodles, studying for finals, and hustling to get a company started before graduation. Today, we're excited to announce the Top Student Entrepreneur Scholarship.

Our goal with this scholarship is to help aspiring business leaders, entrepreneurs, marketers, and technologists pay for school and take a risk on starting a business while an undergraduate. We don’t want the cost of school to stand in the way of your decision to start up a company, so we’re helping in the best way we see fit. Credentials

Applicants to The Top Student Entrepreneur Scholarship must meet the following criteria:
3.0 GPA or higher
University student at an eligible institution*
Interested in entrepreneurship (contest open to all undergraduate majors)
*You must currently be enrolled at, or be an incoming undergraduate student at an accredited post-secondary institution (as defined by the US Department of Education) for the Spring 2018 semester. You must be able to provide documentation to confirm your enrollment upon request.

Submit your 3-minute video

Imagine you’re launching a social network at your University. Come up with a marketing plan to attract the first 10,000 users to your site. You’re strapped for cash and you only have $500 to spend, so paid advertising can’t be the sole acquisition method. Be creative! Explain what channels you would use, what your messaging would be, and how you would achieve rapid growth.

Put your marketing skills into practice. Get as many people to give your Youtube video a thumbs up before January 1st, 2019. The top 10 most up-voted videos will move on to the final round of The Top Student Entrepreneur Scholarship.

Compete in The Finals

We have hand selected the top marketing minds across multiple industries to judge the top 10 finalists. They will evaluate your entry on a set rubric that includes sections on creativity, quality of presentation, financial soundness, and thoroughness of the strategy.

The winner of The Top Student Entrepreneur Scholarship will be named on June 14th. We will directly pay your University $1,000 for your tuition.

FAQs

What criteria will my submission be judged on?

Our first round is judged on popularity — get your video to have the most up-votes (likes) on YouTube, and you’re on your way to success! The second and final round is judged by a panel of marketing experts. They will evaluate your entry on a set rubric that includes sections on creativity, quality of work, quality of presentation, and thoroughness of idea.

I’m an international student — can I apply?

Yes, as long as you meet all of the other eligibility requirements for the contest.

I'm a high school student. Can I still apply?

If you’ll be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution (as defined by the US Department of Education) for the Spring 2019 term, and you meet all other eligibility requirements, then yes.

I’m a community college or junior college student — can I apply?

If you'll be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution (as defined by the US Department of Education) for the Spring 2019 term, and you meet all other eligibility requirements, then yes.

How long does it take to process the scholarship?

You have until December 31, 2018 at Midnight CST to accumulate as many likes on your YouTube Submission as possible. On January 1st, the top 10 most up-voted videos will move on to round 2.

Our panel of expert judges will review the videos and make their decision on which student is the winner of the Top Student Entrepreneur Scholarship. The winner will be announced on January 14, 2019.

The winner's scholarship check will be paid out directly to their University no later than January 21, 2019.

How will the scholarship be paid out?

If you’re selected as the winner of the contest, we’ll directly pay your University the $1,000 scholarship. If you win, we'll request information from you on the proper mailing address for your scholarship office.

How often do you give out the scholarship?

We award this scholarship two times per year — for the Spring semester and for the Fall semester.

Currently, we are awarding the Spring semester scholarship and our deadline for submissions is December 31, 2018. On January 15, 2019, we will begin accepting submissions for the Fall scholarship. The deadline for that award will be June 30, 2019.
